Following a strategic review of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) operations in South Africa due to the oil, gas and mining downturn, SGS has decided to divest its stack emission and environmental laboratory activity operating out of Randburg, Johannesburg.
In the future, the group will service the South African market from its European laboratory network. However, SGS will continue to offer dust monitoring as part of its South African portfolio of services, mainly out of Durban.
Effective October 1, 2016, SGS has therefore transferred part of its EHS operations in South Africa to Skyside, a South African monitoring company.
SGS remains committed to growing its EHS division in the rest of Africa and currently offers the largest network of emission monitoring and environmental testing capabilities in the region.
