On July 11, 2024, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) hosted a critical seminar titled "Safe Use of LPG – Zero Fatal Accident" in Islamabad.
This event brought together professionals from across the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) sector, including plant owners, distributors, government officials, regulators, law enforcement agencies, and inspection bodies. The seminar focused on enhancing safety measures within the industry to achieve the ambitious goal of zero fatal accidents related to LPG use.
Representing SGS Pakistan, Adeel Bari, Manager of Business Development, delivered an insightful presentation on "Safe Distribution and Handling of LPG." His talk highlighted the crucial practices needed to ensure the safe and efficient distribution of LPG, emphasizing the importance of stringent safety protocols and proactive measures to prevent accidents.
During his presentation, Adeel Bari also shared practical suggestions for improving LPG safety standards across the industry, including actions that should be taken to combat illegal decanting shops, which pose significant risks to public safety. His recommendations were well-received by the attendees, sparking a thoughtful discussion during the brainstorming session that followed. The focus remained on achieving the collective goal of zero accidents within the LPG sector.
The seminar concluded with widespread appreciation from the audience, including OGRA’s management and Chairman, for the valuable insights and recommendations provided by SGS.
