SGS is honored to serve as a supporting partner for the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) in organizing the ‘Compliance Pledge’ signing event.
Held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on August 19, 2024, this initiative aims to foster enhanced collaboration and promote an inclusive regulatory environment that ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality products to consumers while upholding global best practices.
The pledge ceremony witnessed robust participation from various industry stakeholders, including original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), consumer brand representatives, manufacturers, and traders. This collective engagement underscores the industry’s commitment to advancing product safety and quality standards within the UAE.
As a strategic partner and notified body with MoIAT, SGS plays a pivotal role in overseeing product conformity schemes across a broad spectrum of categories. These include electrical appliances and low-voltage equipment, cosmetics, perfumes, and personal care products, as well as bottled water, juices, and dairy products, child care articles etc . SGS’s involvement ensures that these products meet rigorous safety and quality standards, reinforcing consumer trust and supporting regulatory compliance.
SGS is instrumental in the administration of two key conformity schemes in the UAE:
- Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS)
- Emirates Quality Mark (EQM)
The ECAS focuses on ensuring that products comply with UAE regulations, while the EQM signifies adherence to stringent quality benchmarks across the various regulated product categories. Through these schemes, SGS contributes significantly to maintaining high standards of product safety for both manufactured and imported products being sold in the country across different formats including physical retail or e-commerce.
The ‘Compliance Pledge’ signing marks a significant milestone in the UAE’s regulatory landscape, reflecting a shared commitment among industry leaders and regulatory bodies to enhance product safety and quality. SGS’s role in this initiative demonstrates its ongoing dedication to supporting the UAE’s strategic goals and aligning with global best practices in product conformity and quality assurance.
In conclusion, SGS’s partnership with MoIAT in this pivotal event strengthens its commitment to fostering a collaborative and regulatory environment that benefits consumers and industry stakeholders alike. The success of the ‘Compliance Pledge’ ceremony highlights the collective effort towards achieving superior product standards and maintaining the highest levels of consumer protection.
