SGS has awarded Al Areen Wildlife Park & Reserve for Wildlife for its commitment and efforts in wildlife preservation in the Kingdom of Bahrain in celebration of this year’s World Animal Day on 7 October 2023.
The certificate of recognition was awarded to Shaikh Mishal Ebrahim AlKhalifa, Acting Director of Al Areen Wildlife Park by Roy Skaria, Managing Director of SGS Bahrain. The ceremony was attended by Al Areen officials, SGS Bahrain team, and park visitors.

Shaikh Mishal said, “On this International Animal Day, we sincerely thank to SGS for choosing Alareen Wildlife Park as the venue for this important occasion. It is an honor to host this event and to celebrate the amazing diversity of animals. We are committed to protecting our animals and their habitats, and we appreciate the support of the community in this effort.”
Al Areen Wildlife Park is the first project of its kind in the region and aims to preserve endangered rare Arabian animal species and plants. It is dedicated to preserving the wildlife of the desert environment in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Its nature reserve is restricted, except for specialists and researchers, veterinarians, and the animals keepers.

“We recognize Al Areen's commitment in wildlife preservation here in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It's important for us to appreciate their efforts so that we can raise awareness on how we can take care of our animals best,” Roy Skaria said.
As part of the celebrations, SGS has organized an event of activities for park visitors which included animal face painting for children and animal feeding for park mammals. One Heart Bahrain, a local volunteer group committed towards goodwill campaigns in Bahrain, collaborated with SGS to assist park visitors on the animal feeding activities.

SGS has also donated a photo booth to Al Areen featuring the park’s protected species that are distinct in Bahrain’s desert environment including the Arabian Oryx, the Bahraini Sand gazelle or Reem gazelle, and Arabian camel.
Roxanne Perreault, Head of Sustainability of SGS Bahrain highlighted, “Sustainability is embedded in our culture and the way we do business at SGS. To celebrate this year's World Animal Day, we are honored to collaborate with Al Areen to ignite change and give our wildlife the love and care they deserve.”
