Switzerland has issued an amendment to the nation’s technical standards for toys. These will become effective on July 1, 2024.
In Switzerland, toys are regulated under Ordinance of the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) (Toys Ordinance, SR/RS 817.023.11; French, German and Italian versions). This piece of legislation contains elements from Directive 2009/48/EC on toy safety (Toy Safety Directive, TSD) and Annex XVII of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (Annex XVII of REACH) for the management of chemicals.
On June 5, 2024, Switzerland published Official Collection 2024 249 (RO 2024 249, French, German and Italian versions) to amend two standards falling under Annex 4 of the Swiss Toys Ordinance
