SG 155/24
The EU has amended its CLP Regulation. This amendment entered into force on October 20, 2024.
In September 2024, the European Union (EU) published Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/2564 of June 19, 2024 to revise Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP Regulation, consolidated version to December 2023).
This amendment contains several important changes to the list of harmonized requirements for the classification and labeling of hazardous substances under Table 3 in Part 3 of Annex VI to the CLP Regulation. It:
- Adds 27 new entries, including perboric acid, sodium salt and similar compounds (Index No. 005-022-00-4), perboric acid, monosodium salt trihydrate and similar compounds (005-023-00-X) and sodium peroxometaborate (005-024-00-5)
- Deletes six entries, of which five are replaced by the point above
- Replaces 16 entries, including trimethyl borate – a substance with a new reprotoxic 1B classification
The latest amendment will apply from May 1, 2026 – substances and mixtures may be classified, labeled and packaged in accordance with this amendment before this date.
