SGS Electrical Measurements test the performance of electrical and electronic components under environmental simulations such as vibration, climatic aging and corrosion. Our tests comply with major original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications including BMW, VW, Daimler, Renault and Nissan, PSA, Toyota and many more.
We work to global standards including ISO and IEC, to test for:
Resistivity
Surface and/or transverse resistivity measurements are used to characterize the ability of a material to conduct electricity.
Contact Resistance Measurement
Resistance generated by a contact, or a crimping, can cause the destructive heating of a connector. We measure such resistance using a direct current source and a microvoltmeter.
ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD)
A high voltage generator, a charge bar and an electrostatic field meter evaluate dissipation (or not) of these charges in a part.
Dielectric Strength
These tests verify the maximum value of the electric field that a material can withstand before the triggering of an electric arc, thus a short circuit.
Insulation Resistance
Measuring insulation resistance in electrical equipment allows manufacturers to identify potentially damaging faults or defects.
Electrical Continuity
These tests check an electrical component remains operational when subjected to severe environmental conditions.
