SafeGuardSHardgoods26. Mar 2025

SG 047/25

Thailand has informed the World Trade Organization (WTO) of its intention to mandate TIS 3206-2567 (2024) for food contact stainless-steel materials and articles. If approved, the regulation will enter into force 270 days following publication in the Government Gazette.

On March 13, 2025, the WTO announced a revised draft ministerial regulation from Thailand’s Ministry of Industry on its intention to mandate TIS 3206-2567 (2024) for stainless-steel materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.

The draft ministerial regulation details the 13 categories of stainless-steel containers and utensils that must comply with the standard – defined as bowls, beverage containers, chopsticks, dippers, forks, frying pans, food containers, food trays, ladles, plates, pots, spatulas and spoons.

Highlights of the requirements for the specific release of seven metals in the standard are summarized in Table 1.
