SGS Durham is accredited under UKAS for testing against the requirements of the standard BS EN 60529:1992+A2:2013: Degree of protection provided by enclosures (IP code).
This standard provides a framework to assess the suitability of equipment for use in various environmental conditions to prevent a product being penetrated by a solid object, dust or water.
Various safety standards have mandatory ingress protection (I)P ratings to be satisfied to presume the safety of the appliance. You can download our brochure that shows the varying degrees of ingress and what the numbers signify.
SGS Durham has extensive experience with IP testing and has provided expert advice to numerous manufacturers at both the design and validation stages of their products. With our cutting-edge test chambers and equipment, we can perform tests against dust, sand and liquids using IPx1 to IPx6 for solids and IPX1 to IPx9 for liquids. We can carry out ingress protection tests for various industries, such as automotive, industrial products, medical devices, radio equipment, electricity meter and consumer products.
