Scientist Working in Food Laboratory

We perform microbiological safety testing at our Cambridge and Cramlington laboratories to detect food borne pathogens and spoilage organisms, to assist food safety along the supply chain, during production and in the final product. Our services range from enumeration of indicator organisms to identification of foodborne pathogens, including Listeria sp, E. coli, C.perfringens, Campylobacter sp, S.aureus, Salmonella sp and others.

Amongst our many services, we offer challenge testing. Challenge testing is the effective method in gaining an understanding of how robust your product is against spoilage or pathogens behavior during storage. Our challenge tests protocols are designed using established principals and guidance (EURL Lm, ISO 20976-1:2019) as well as our extensive experience with a broad range of products, packaging, organisms and inoculation methods.

Our laboratories are all RSA approved microbiology services providers. Our accreditation covers a wide range of food types including supplements, blends and extracts.

In addition to routine testing and environmental monitoring, we offer microbiological shelf life determination for a wide range of food stuffs. We have extensive storage capacity at both ambient and chilled conditions.

Other available sequencing platforms provide further insight into microbiological complex questions:

  • Multi locus sequence typing:
    • Perfect tool for ‘strain’ identification of bacteria and dissection of relationships: tracking and tracing pathogens (environmental monitoring)
