In 2016, The Eurasian Economic Commission adopted the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Technical Regulation TR EAEU 037/2016 (hereinafter referred to as EAEU RoHS).

In 2016, The Eurasian Economic Commission adopted the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Technical Regulation TR EAEU 037/2016 (hereinafter referred to as EAEU RoHS).

Starting from Mar 1, 2018, the Regulation has a transition period of two years and will become mandatory from Mar 1, 2020, from which date the electronic products marketed in the EAEU (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia) must undergo conformity assurance procedures to prove their compliance with the restriction of hazardous substances and acquire the officially registered Declaration of Compliance (DoC).

There are currently six restricted substances including Pb / Cd / Hg / Cr (VI) / PBB / PBDE. Except for the limit of Cd, which is 0.01%, the limit for all other substances is 0.1%.

Besides the limit requirements for hazardous substances, only when the electrical and radio-electronic products have passed the conformity assessment procedures and comply with other technical regulations requirements applicable to these products (e.g. safety, EMC, etc.) can they be placed on the market and use the EAC mark. The EAC mark provides the safe access to EAEU market for the product, which is similar to the EU CE mark.

There’s a slight difference from the those of EU RoHS where EAEU applies to 12 categories of electrical and radio-electronic products.
