Toy products are highly regulated throughout the world and toy safety standards are being constantly updated.
Since Brexit, the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 was published, which aims to increase the level of safety among toy products placed in the UK market. It does this by imposing legal obligations on importers or manufacturers to adhere to “essential safety requirements”.
In September 2022, the UK’s Office for Product Safety and Standards and Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) announced that Notice of Publication 063/22 will revise a list of designated toy safety standards for demonstrating compliance.
On February 14 2023, Notice of Proposal to Publish 0080/23 was issued for presumption of conformity with its toy legislation in relation to Great Britain.
