Scanning technology is now used worldwide to check cargo, containers, luggage and other shipments, but a scanner is only as effective as its operator. At SGS we believe that an image analyst needs to have experience of recognizing different threat objects to be able to recognize them quickly in a limited window of time.
Our range of scanner training services will enable you to give your operators the hands-on experience they need, across different areas including image analysis for cargo scanning, baggage and pallet screening, radio protection and operational training.
Training can be customized depending on your needs, and adapted to suit the skill levels of your operators. Our training is complementary to all manufacturers’ initial training, focused exclusively on improving the skills and performance of the operators.
Intensive Image Analysis Training for Cargo Scanners
Fraud detection rates depend on the capability of the image analyst. At SGS we know that nothing replaces experience and practice, so we have developed a range of intensive courses that give operators the chance to analyze a range of specific images classified by type of threat. Our cargo image training includes:
- An explanation of the entire image analysis process
- Some practical examples classified by type of threats
- Intensive practice on image analysis
- An evaluation and presentation of SGS attestation
Image Analysis Training for Baggage and Pallet Screeners
X-ray scanners are used worldwide to inspect baggage and cargo for hidden and prohibited items, however scanners cannot identify suspicious images without skilled, trained operators. Operators need a broad range of detection experience, so before we begin training, we assess your operators to ascertain their knowledge and suitability for detailed, analytical work. This assessment looks at a number of areas, including special perception, color identification, attention to anomalies and visual closure. This training includes:
- Threat object recognition: identification of suspicious objects within complex images
- Object recognition superimposition: identification of suspicious objects obscured by other objects within multi-layered images
Radioprotection
Training provides operators with the necessary knowledge of x-ray properties, radiation safety basics and x-ray scanner fundamentals
Operational Training
Explanation of the different phases of the scanning process with emphasis on the role of each employee and the coordination of each task and training on how to start and shut down the scanner, in order to optimize the entire operation.
Threat Recognition Training
This training introduces operators to a wide range of threat objects and how to recognize them. These include explosives, firearms, knives and martial arts weapons and prohibited items. The training is then customized to fit your operator’s required skill base. Our computer-based training provides hands-on practical experience of baggage screening at varying levels of proficiency.
