We are pleased to announce that Frank Kempe, Global Softlines Technical Manager, has been reappointed to the Laboratory Technical Advisory Committee (LabTAC) of the Apparel and Footwear International RSL Management (AFIRM) Group. This continued involvement ensures we remain at the forefront of chemical compliance, helping our customers navigate an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.
With growing concerns about the use of hazardous chemicals in softlines industry, businesses need expert guidance to make informed decisions on sustainability, regulatory compliance and supply chain management. Frank’s reappointment to LabTAC enhances our direct access to key decision-makers shaping global chemical management strategies and further reinforces our commitment to driving safer chemistry in the softlines industry.
AFIRM serves as a center of excellence for chemical management, setting industry-wide standards through its restricted substances list (RSL). This list is widely adopted by both AFIRM members and non-members striving to minimize harmful chemical use. Since joining LabTAC in 2022, Frank has played a key role in developing the annual RSL and has contributed expert insights on crucial initiatives, including AFIRM’s guidance on the phase-out of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
Frank Kempe: “It is an honor to be reappointed to LabTAC. This role enables both me and SGS to directly shape AFIRM’s RSL updates, further strengthening our leadership in chemical safety for apparel and footwear supply chains. Our goal is to empower businesses with the knowledge and tools they need to implement safer, more sustainable practices.”
