SGS’s Highest Altitude Laboratory opens at the Jamgyr Deposit in Kyrgyzstan

At an altitude of 3000 meters, our new chemical and analytical laboratory at the Jamgyr deposit in the Kyrgyz Republic is the highest of all SGS laboratories.

The lab’s services, which include outsourcing, help mining companies achieve accurate and timely analyses of minerals and ores, crucial to efficient and proficient mining operations.

With a team of 32 full-time experienced professionals working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, the laboratory at Jamgyr is well equipped to provide a range of tests to ensure the highest quality of production. In addition to processing geologic samples, the laboratory fully ensures the issuance of analyses at all production stages of the ZIF.

The laboratory is equipped with a CCLAS LIMS (SLIM) laboratory information management system, which is used in more than 450 SGS laboratories for multiple areas, including mineral raw materials, agriculture, consumer goods, ecology, food products, oil, gas, chemicals and the business sector. Other equipment at the Jamgyr laboratory  includes wet laboratory CN, acid and base fume control, flame AAS, Au, Ag and CN solutions, dust collection in sample preparation and assaying, sample preparation equipment, LIMS, Rocklabs Boyd RSD, Prolite FRP fume hoods and scrubbers and Agilent 55B Flame AAS.

All this equipment was carefully chosen based on SGS's extensive experience  operating laboratories in remote areas. The equipment offers reliability of operation and ease of maintenance and repair.

Outsourcing services

The Jamgyr lab’s outsourcing services provide mining companies with cost effective and reliable solutions for their laboratory testing needs. Outsourcing provides several benefits:

Reduction in the cost of setting up and maintaining an in-house lab;
Access to a wider range of testing services, including ore microscopy and mineralogy, which may not be available in-house;
