We are thrilled to present China’s first-ever ISO/IEC 42001 certificate to OrionStar Robotics.
SGS recently issued the robotics business with its ISO/IEC 42001 (Artificial Intelligence Management System, or AIMS) certificate following months of teamwork and dedication.
A milestone demonstrating capability
OrionStar followed the global standard’s requirements, successfully introducing the management system. This milestone helps the company demonstrate leadership in AI, a strong sense of social responsibility, best practices and a long-term mechanism for ensuring sustainable and effective operations.
Meeting and exceeding market needs
Fu Sheng, President of OrionStar and Chairman and CEO of Cheetah Mobile, commented at the presentation ceremony: “We firmly believe that the more high-tech the product, the stricter the regulations should be, and data privacy and management become more important.
“It’s our duty to protect user data privacy and ensure that internal management is more systematic. These are essential for maintaining competitiveness.
“On the basis of certification, we must truly address market demands, deliver products that exceed customer expectations, operate effectively in a competitive market, and adhere to international market standards. We are committed to delivering top-quality services to global customers.”
Constantly evolving as AI and markets change
SGS is constantly evolving its AI auditing and certification services, and this was its first ISO/IEC 42001 certificate in Asia.
During the ceremony, David Xin, SGS China Vice President, recognized the importance of safely implementing AI in the country to enhance quality and productivity, particularly as the technology has been included in China’s Government Work Report. He also commented that AI companies adopting international standards to continuously optimize their AI governance systems will become a trend.
What is ISO/IEC 42001?
ISO/IEC 42001 provides a certifiable AIMS framework in which AI systems can be developed and deployed as part of an AI assurance ecosystem.
The global standard specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an AIMS. The goal is to help organizations and society benefit the most from AI while reassuring stakeholders that systems are being developed and used responsibly.
