The SGS Laboratory Located in Naucalpan, State of Mexico, Receives Authorization from COFEPRIS.

SGS, the world leader in testing, inspection, and certification, announces that its SGS laboratory located in Naucalpan, State of Mexico, has obtained authorization as a third-party testing laboratory authorized by COFEPRIS (Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks). This laboratory specializes in the analysis of food, beverages, and consumer products.

The analytical framework covered by the authorization includes tests for the following Mexican Official Standards (NOM):

• NOM-086-SSA1-1994, Goods and services. Foods and non-alcoholic beverages with modifications in their composition. Nutritional specifications.

o Normative Appendix C.

o Determination of fat.

  • 1.1 Ether extract method. For products such as chocolates, grains, chocolate powders, among others.
  • 1.2 Roese-Gottlieb method (Alkaline hydrolysis). For infant formulas, follow-up formulas, powdered milk, among others.

o Determination of sugars.

  • 2.1 Determination of direct and total reducing sugars.

• NOM-092-SSA1-1994, Goods and services. Method for the plate count of aerobic bacteria.

 •NOM-110-SSA1-1994, Goods and services. Preparation and dilution of food samples for microbiological analysis.

• NOM-111-SSA1-1994, Goods and services. Method for the plate count of molds and yeasts in foods.

• NOM-113-SSA1-1994, Goods and Services. Method for the plate count of total coliform microorganisms.

• NOM-116-SSA1-1994, Goods and services. Determination of moisture in foods by thermal treatment. Sand or fat method.

• NOM-210-SSA1-2014, Products and services. Microbiological test methods. Determination of indicator microorganisms. Determination of pathogenic microorganisms.
