SGS’s IECEx Accreditation for Explosive Atmosphere Testing and Certification Expands to North America

SGS North America is now an IECEx Accepted Certification Body (ExCB) and an Accepted Testing Laboratory (ExTL) for the Explosive Atmosphere equipment certification scheme, in accordance with the IECEx Scheme Rules, IECEx 02 for North America, in addition to our existing UK capabilities.

This accreditation expands the reach of our capabilities in explosion-proof testing for IECEx equipment certification. As a Certified Body Testing Laboratory (CBTL), our total solutions give our clients a one-stop-shop service, with QARs now available for new customers and customers with IECEx certificates from other ExCBs. UKCA and CCC services can also be offered through our network partners.

In addition, our North America team expects to receive Notified Body status from ATEX in the fourth quarter of 2023, giving clients an easy transition to QAN. Our suite of services includes both field evaluation and hazardous location unit verifications, as well as solutions for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) certification. Moreover, we offer testing and certification for a variety of protection methods including intrinsic safety, non-incendive, flameproof, explosion-proof, dust-ignition proof and encapsulation etc.
