SGS is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the CEBEC mark. To mark this festive milestone, SGS is opening its brand-new testing laboratory in Anderlecht.
The CEBEC mark was established 100 years ago with a noble societal mission: to ensure that only safe electrical products enter the Belgian market. The mark has since guaranteed unwavering reliability, safety, and compliance with Belgian, European and international standards.
SGS Belgium N.V., with its CEBEC division, manages the CEBEC mark. Both the SGS CEBEC Certification Body and the laboratory are equipped with extensive accreditations and recognitions. As globally recognized entities, they offer various tests and certificates, allowing manufacturers to effectively market their electrical products in numerous countries and regions. In 2022, the CEBEC division carried out approximately 5000 international certifications.
The modern testing laboratory in Brussels, with an area of approximately 1000 m2, represents a significant expansion compared to the previous laboratory. In addition to growth and renewal, special attention has been paid to sustainability, with improved energy efficiency, insulation, and the implementation of heat pumps.
Today, 25 colleagues work for SGS Belgium N.V. CEBEC division. In Belgium and the Netherlands, more than 4000 people are working for SGS in various branches, product groups, industries, and sectors.
Johan Pype, Managing Director SGS Belgium and SGS Netherlands: "Today we are proud to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the CEBEC mark with customers and international stakeholders from the sector. With the new testing laboratory, SGS invests in a sustainable and safe future. We also strengthen our position as a crucial player in the field of electrical product safety, quality, and certification. Thanks to the dedication and expertise of our CEBEC employees, we contribute to the realization of our global mission: 'Enabling a better, safer and more interconnected world.'"
