Air Philippines Corporation, commercially known as PAL express, an ISO 9001:2015 certified organization, opened 2020 with an all-time high on-time performance (OTP) among Filipino air carriers for flight departures and arrival out of Manila.
Last week (January 4-10, 2020) PALex registered an 86.89% OTP for both departure and arrival which is significantly higher than the December 1-31, 2019 OTP of 85.4% for departure and 82.01% for arrival.
The airline who will be celebrating its 24th anniversary next month, closed 2019 on a high note after achieving an all-time high of 89.4 percent, 89.15 percent and 85.4 OTP for the months of October, November and December 2019 for regional and domestic flights combined.
Over the entire year, month by month, PAL express along with its sister company Philippine Airlines (PAL) consistently maintained a lead of five to 15 percentage points in on-time departures from the Manila hub.
“The surge in OTP is the result of concerted initiatives by PAL express and PAL network and operations teams to achieve more efficient aircraft movement and schedule management, pre-flight passenger and ground handling processes, post-flight evaluation designed to refine and improve all action steps, and closer coordination with the airport and aviation authorities,” the airline said.
Last July, PAL express, PAL and other airline carriers signed a pledge of commitment in vowing to work toward improved on-time performance through effective management of flight operations and usage of airport slots. Signatories also committed to accept accountability for causes of flight delays and cancellations within their control, as well as support the development of mechanisms of discipline for the entire industry.
PAL express attributed the increased OTP to the combined efforts of the authorities and the airlines in NAIA, the hub of various Philippine carriers. PAL express and PAL operate the largest international airline hub at the NAIA complex, with flights out of Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
The positive OTP scores also made PALex and PAL the biggest contributor to the tourism industry, breaching the 8 million annual foreign tourist visitors for the first time in history.
PAL express is an ISO 9001:2015 certified organization by SGS Philippines since 2018.
