Harnessing the power of E-DNA for sustainable monitoring and conservation

What is happening to our environment and how can we understand it better through environmental DNA (E-DNA)?  Traditional ecological surveys are expensive and time-consuming, so scientists are using environmental DNA (E-DNA) to screen for multiple organisms in a single sample, providing high accuracy and sensitivity in large-scale assessments. We use E-DNA to develop innovative solutions to promote sustainability and accelerate low-carbon initiatives and net-zero biodiversity losses by 2050. Learn about our four packages to monitor e-DNA.

SGS E-DNA Services Cape Verde Case Study

Discover the Cape Verde archipelago, a global biodiversity hotspot

Led by Biosphere One and with variable diversity surveys using remote underwater cameras and environmental DNA sampling, we are collecting data to determine marine life status between the islands of Wolfish to a Mile. By using powerful tools such as E-DNA, we are dedicated to helping achieve sustainability in remote and deep marine settings.

Insect Scan

Insect populations are declining at an alarming rate, posing a serious threat to ecosystems and humans. At the Global Biodiversity Center we have developed a method called ‘Insect Scan’ to monitor insect biodiversity. By analyzing environmental DNA left behind on plants, this innovative technology delivers extensive data in a short time, supporting your sustainability efforts.
