The challenge – managing productivity and lead time
While the Iveco Group is a globally recognized automotive leader with a presence in more than 160 countries, their scale and range of activities has created some challenges in harmonizing their supply chain, especially in relation to managing productivity and lead time among their top tier suppliers. Conducting consistent Potential Supplier Assessments has also proved difficult to arrange.
Targeting the support Iveco needed from SGS
Working closely with Iveco, our team proposed a contract that covered their European operations, which splits our services between consultancy and auditing activities. On the consultancy side, our primary role is to delve deep into the issues at hand, identify their root causes, and then formulate appropriate solutions. After this, we support Iveco in implementing the necessary actions to rectify these issues. On the auditing side, we provide Iveco with experienced technical professionals who are skilled in identifying the most suitable suppliers for their specific needs.
The initial results from both these services have been very encouraging, leading Iveco to expand the reach of our contract, taking it from a purely European scope to a global one.
How our solution helps society
Harmonizing and streamlining Iveco's supply chain allows them to accurately predict product delivery times, while boosting supplier efficiency by minimizing waste and urgent transports. With Iveco operating at a vast scale, this has made a significant contribution to environmental sustainability through waste reduction and optimized resource use, leading to fewer carbon emissions.
It has also fostered a more responsible industrial ecosystem, in which Iveco is better able to produce and deliver their products on time. This helps to avoid potential disruption to transport carrying vital goods, ensuring they reach their final destination on time.
