PAS 2050 How to Evaluate the Carbon Footprint of Goods and Services

The course also offers instruction on reducing carbon emissions where possible, and working towards sustainable development.

This program teaches you how to calculate a product’s carbon footprint through a process of mapping and defining frontiers, and how to collect and validate your data. You will also learn how to effectively reduce carbon emissions and move towards a more sustainable production and service delivery model.

Emissions reduction can save money for your organization, as well as help protect the planet, but there are less tangible rewards too. These include generating a more positive image for your organization and improving perception among customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. However, you will not experience these benefits unless you learn about communicating your carbon footprint data – an area covered by this training.

You will benefit from attending this course if you are involved in managing your organization’s energy efficiency, or if you are responsible for reducing carbon emissions and/or overseeing sustainable development.

Course outline:

  • Calculating the carbon footprint: the construction of map processes
  • Frontier processes: where it begins and ends; hierarchy boundaries
  • Data collection
  • Uncertainty control
  • Validation of results
  • Reduction of emissions
  • Carbon footprint communication
