On the 5 June, gathering at 07:00 am at Seaside Karachi, they embarked on the task of collecting waste to clean the beach, a crucial endeavor that would yield a positive impact on marine life.
Additionally, they took the opportunity to educate and advise individuals against polluting the beach, aiming to raise awareness at the local level.
Under the leadership of SGS Pakistan’s Managing Director Abdul Razzak Lakhani and the Business Manager Muhammad Aqeel, the team took charge in actively participating to combat plastic pollution.
During the activity, they successfully gathered over 100 bags of waste, with a notable observation that the majority of the collected waste consisted of plastic materials. In fact, the ratio of plastic waste to other forms of waste stood at approximately 80 to 20.
After thoroughly cleaning the designated site, the team proceeded to collect the gathered waste.
They diligently handed over the collected waste to a Waste Collection Truck operated by the Cantonment Board. This truck will responsibly dispose of the waste in accordance with the procedures outlined by the local government.
We embrace the World Environment Day with immense enthusiasm, recognizing it as a valuable occasion to raise public awareness and combat the menace of plastic pollution. An ongoing collective endeavor is needed to effect substantial change. We firmly believe that even smallest actions help safeguarding our planet.
