We began operating in Singapore in 1971, under the name of General Superintendence Company (Pte) Ltd, initially involved in agricultural related survey work and services. Today, as the leading provider of inspection, certification, testing and verification services, SGS Singapore is made up of SGS Testing & Control Services Singapore Pte Ltd and SGS International Certification Services Singapore Pte Ltd.

Our oil, gas and chemicals services laboratory – first known as the Redwood Laboratory – was the first laboratory in Singapore to embrace the Singapore Laboratory Accreditation Scheme in 1987, the precursor to the ISO 17025 accreditation scheme.
We were also one of the first SGS companies in Asia to be certified to ISO 9000 in 1992, paving the way for the many other certifications and accreditations achieved in the subsequent years.
In 2006, we became one of the few countries in the SGS Group to launch a life science services laboratory. This laboratory started as a quality control laboratory and now also provides research and development services to the pharmaceutical industry.
