China Publishes a Revised Standard for Electric Toys – GB/T 19865-2024

Standardization Administration of China (SAC) has published new standard for electric toys – GB/T 19865-2024, replacing GB 19865-2005.

On July 24, 2024, the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) announced the publication of a revision to the safety standard for electric toys – GB/T 19865-2024. The revised standard replaces GB 19865-2005, and it has an effective date set for August 1, 2026. The revised standard is based on the International Standard IEC 62115:2017.

Please find below some of the key changes when comparing the revised and old standards:

  • Added: a warning pictogram and a statement for toys that are operated by coin or button batteries
  • Added: a high voltage test for toys that use USB connections
  • Temperature rise limits are revised based on the type of material used and the age range of the target user
  • Revised: the test parameter and method for the mechanical strength test
  • Revised: LED requirements to aligning with the Annex E of IEC 62115:2017
