The emergence of the highly contagious novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has made consumers, workers and others more concerned than ever before about the safety of the premises they enter. The SGS Disinfection Monitored, Cleaning Checked mark provides assurance that all necessary measures to ensure the implementation and maintenance of the available hygiene standards for disinfection and the prevention of infection spread are being taken.

Why choose the SGS Disinfection Monitored, Cleaning Checked Mark?

The mark provides a clear statement indicating that specific premises comply with the SGS Disinfection Monitoring Program, and what that means in terms of disinfection assessment. It includes a publicly accessible QR code that shows the validity period of the mark.

The mark remains valid for one year from the date that the initial inspection was successfully performed and all requirements were shown to be fulfilled. After the initial assessment is completed, the premises must undergo bi-monthly on-site rechecks. If the first two rechecks are passed successfully, the frequency of rechecks will be reduced to every four months. To retain the mark, the premises must undergo a full, complete inspection annually.

About the SGS Disinfection Monitoring Program

SGS’s Disinfection Monitored, Cleaning Checked services are based on:

  1. A desktop gap analysis of the sites’ cleaning and disinfection protocols, to ensure completeness and compliance with international and local guidance
  2. An on-site verification of these cleaning and disinfection procedures, to ensure consistent and correct implementation of the related protocols
  3. On-site verification testing, by means of fluorescent marking, prior to and post cleaning, to assess the effectiveness of cleaning procedures
  4. The collection of surface swab samples from specific high touch points, followed by analysis, by means of second generation ATP, to confirm the presence of biological material as an indication of the effectiveness of surface cleaning and disinfection
