Addressing climate change with trusted expertise

Climate change remains one of the most critical challenges faced by nations and businesses worldwide. We are at the forefront of efforts to mitigate environmental impact, focusing on decarbonization strategies that help mitigate climate risk and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. By offering validation and verification services for carbon reduction and sequestration claims, we ensure the credibility of high-quality carbon credits under the Asia Carbon Institute Program, which are essential in achieving the mission of Asia Carbon Institute to support the region.

Importance of the voluntary carbon market

The voluntary carbon market plays a pivotal role in connecting private capital with sustainability-focused projects that enhance climate impact. Through carbon credit certification programs, individuals and corporates can indirectly finance projects that reduce GHG emissions beyond their immediate reaches in the value chains. This market is crucial for driving the global transition towards a carbon-neutral economy.

Our commitment to decarbonization

We are committed to supporting our customers on their journey towards decarbonization and achieving global net-zero targets. With recognition from the Asia Carbon Institute’s program as an accredited Validation and Verification Body (VVB), we are positioned to play a critical role in fostering a robust voluntary carbon market in Asia. This recognition underscores our ability to conduct impartial assessments, ensuring that projects meet the stringent requirements and high standards necessary for the issuance of credible carbon credits.

The role of the Asia Carbon Institute

Established in 2022, the Asia Carbon Institute is a non-profit, voluntary carbon credit standard organization and registry based in Asia. It is dedicated to accelerating the transition to a carbon-neutral economy by generating transparent carbon credits.  Through its trusted platform, Asia Carbon Institute facilitates the issuance, trade and retirement of voluntary carbon credits, driving significant climate action across the region.

John Lo, Founder of Asia Carbon Institute said: “By conducting independent audits on carbon offset projects, VVBs play an essential role in ensuring the integrity and credibility of the voluntary carbon market. We are excited to welcome SGS joining our network of accredited VVBs. This move will help ensure the high quality of certified projects and foster the growth of the carbon market ecosystem in Asia.”

Our contribution to sustainable practices

This acknowledgment reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting the global decarbonization agenda. By providing trusted verification services, we are helping to build a more sustainable future and ensuring that the carbon credits meet international standards, thereby fostering greater confidence in the voluntary carbon market."
