We showcased sustainability testing and certification solutions and co-hosted an ESG seminar with ZDHC.
SGS took center stage at the Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics Expo, August 27-29, 2024, showcasing our one-stop-shop approach to sustainability testing and certification for the fashion industry and co-hosting a joint seminar on environmental, social and governance (ESG) with Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC).
Founded in 1995, Intertextile has become the world’s largest apparel fabric exhibition, attracting nearly 4,000 industry leaders and businesses from over 26 different territories. In 2024, delegates explored cutting-edge products, technologies, models, trends and concepts, all with a strong focus on health and sustainability.
As a global leader in sustainability, we showcased our broad range of effective low-carbon development services, including GRS/RCS certification, ZDHC MRSL Level 1-3 conformance certification, chemical management solutions, DETOX and ZDHC wastewater testing, supply chain transparency and traceability solutions, preferred material services and holistic carbon management solutions.
A key highlight of the expo was the joint ESG seminar presented by Daniel Zhao, Global Technical Innovation Project Manager, Connectivity & Products, SGS and Ms. Lydia Lin, Regional Director for ZDHC. Mr Zhao began by providing insights into critical ESG standards, disclosure requirements and ratings, offering a roadmap for companies seeking to align with global sustainability benchmarks. Ms Lin then expanded on this, discussing the role of sustainable chemical management in improving ESG performance. The seminar attracted significant interest from both in-person and online attendees.
As an authorized partner and solution provider for ZDHC, we play a crucial role in supporting the fashion industry’s transition to safer and more sustainable chemical management. Our comprehensive suite of services includes ZDHC wastewater testing, ZDHC MRSL Level 1-3 certification and training through the ZDHC Academy.
From carbon emissions accounting and asset management to reduction strategies and management systems, SGS is at the forefront of the sustainability transition, supporting the fashion industry as it moves towards a low-carbon, greener future.
