An independent, non-profit organization, the Global Certification Forum (GCF) offers mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) certification programs based on conformity to agreed-upon standards. It plays a crucial role in ensuring global interoperability between devices and networks, benefiting billions of users worldwide.
The GCF provides certification solutions for devices based on 3GPP and other relevant industry standards including, but not limited to, smart and feature phones, modules and chipsets, hot spots/routers, tablets and notebooks, IoT devices and wearables.
What are the key benefits of GCF certification?
- Device-network interoperability: GCF certification provides assurance that devices seamlessly work across different networks, regardless of the network equipment vendor
- Reduced testing costs: by adhering to GCF standards, manufacturers can streamline testing processes, saving time and resources
- Accelerated time-to-market: GCF-certified devices can enter multiple markets without the need for extensive acceptance testing in each region
GCF certification scope
- Handsets
- Modules
- Routers
- Tablets
- Wearables (e.g. wristwatches and head-mounted displays)
- Laptops
- Automotive devices
- IoT devices
- Industrial equipment
- Metering devices
What is the GCF certification process?
- Conformance testing: ensures that devices conform to relevant mobile standards
- Interoperability tests (IOT): verifies correct operation of key interfaces within the device and between the device and mobile networks
- Field trials: Provide real-world insights by testing devices across live commercial networks
All device testing associated with GCF certification must be undertaken by ISO qualified GCF Recognized Test Organizations (RTO).
RTOs are GCF members who have demonstrated they possess the experience, qualifications and systems to assess wireless mobile and IoT devices against GCF's Certification Criteria.
To help you achieve GCF certification our global network of wireless testing facilities holds ISO/IEC 17025 and RTO lab status. Choose SGS as your third-party certification supplier and we will conduct all the required testing to GCF certification criteria. Your application will be evaluated by GCF and if all requirements have been met your certification notice issued.
Ensure your devices can access key networks with GCF certification from SGS.
