Comprehensive marine inspection solutions for mineral and metal commodity traders, providing sound, reputable documentation on the condition of a vessel pre- and post-chartering.
Our marine inspection solutions
At SGS, we represent you during trading. Whatever your strategic requirements when moving minerals and metals, our experienced marine surveyors will support you with high-level solutions that help you minimize risk.
Solutions include:
- On-hire/off-hire
- Draft surveys
- Cleanliness inspections
- Bunker surveys
Our on-hire/off-hire service will assess the condition and state of maintenance of any chartered vessel. Experienced marine surveyors inspect the vessel at chartering commencement, looking at both equipment and documentation. At the end of the charter, they will re-examine the vessel and documentation for any noteworthy changes. A detailed, independent report is then given to all parties, which can be used as key evidence to protect your interests in the case of a dispute over maintenance or condition at a charter’s conclusion.
Independent bunker surveys assess the actual condition of the vessel, establishing the amount of bunker and lube oil onboard. These surveys are an important loss-prevention measure since, in the event of a dispute or claim, documentation of bunker operations will be required.
Why choose SGS for your marine inspection requirements?
SGS is recognized as the benchmark for quality and integrity. Wherever you operate in the world, we support you at every stage of your mineral and metal supply chain with high-quality services that help you minimize risk while optimizing outcomes.
