SGS is pleased to announce the opening of a new filtration performance laboratory in Suzhou, China, which took place on May 20, 2021.
The official opening of SGS’s new laboratory took place on May 20th, 2021 and was attended by VIPs including Ms. Liu Hua, Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee, Mr. Tian Xueling, Vice President of CSSD, Mr. Li Jun, Vice President of Suzhou Institute of Measurement and Testing Technology, Ms. Shi Sujuan, Director of Testing Center, Mr. Qu Weixin, Vice President of Xiangcheng Research Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Equipment, Soochow University, Mr. Mou Qizhi, General Manager of SGS’s Shanghai Branch, Mr. Chen Huijun, General Manager of SGS’s Suzhou Branch, Mr. Lv Bincai, North East China Director of SGS’s Electrical & Electronics Consumer Division, and Director of SGS’s Automotive China Service Division, as well as guests from well-known enterprises in the home appliance, automotive and filtration industries.
The new 2500 m2 facility expands the company’s capability to provide its extensive and increasing customer-base across the region with cutting-edge testing technology and first-class solutions in the filtration industry.
The laboratory caters to a wide range of industries with a single focus on filtration testing for Compressed Air HEPA & ULPA, HVAC & Industrial Air and Residential Air Purification.
Mr. Mou Qizhi, General Manager of SGS’s Shanghai Branch, said: “SGS’s Filtration Performance Laboratory in Suzhou is the first laboratory in China to focus on filtration performance testing. It is an important milestone for SGS in China and great news for our clients who will benefit from a locally available, single lab dedicated to air filtration services.
“While providing professional and convenient high-quality services for clients, it will also better cooperate with other businesses in the industry to further help the healthy and sustainable development of the national filtration industry.”
Equipped with advanced testing equipment such as the F1977 vacuum cleaner test bench, ISO 11155 automotive air conditioning filter test bench, ISO 16890 air filter test bench and Palas PMFT 1000, the scope for product testing at Suzhou includes:
- Room Purifiers – performance testing: ISO, AHAM, GB/T
- Vacuum Cleaners – performance testing: ASTM and IEC
- HEPA and ULPA Filters: EN 1822/ ISO 29643 including MPPS to 0.01μm and IEST HEPA & ULPA
- HVAC Testing – Residential and Commercial: Initial Efficiency, Full Tests with Charge Conditioning and Dirt Holding Capacity
- Automotive Cabin AIR
- Engine Intake & Crankcase Ventilation: Flow Restriction and Capacity Efficiency
The six-strong specialist laboratory team now seek to acquire A2LA accreditation and CNAS accreditation for the new lab in June and November 2021 respectively.
At the ceremony, Ms. Liu Hua of the Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee, said that the presence and operation of SGS’s Filtration Performance Laboratory will further enhance Suzhou's advantageous position in the field of filtration testing and certification. She explained that she believes that SGS can both benefit related enterprises in the park and jointly develop high-quality products for the filtration industry, while also assisting in quality improvements and rapid development of relevant enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta and China. This will all help "Made in Suzhou" compete in the international market.
SGS’s Filtration Performance Laboratory in Suzhou is China’s first domestic third-party laboratory focusing on filtration testing. It features complete air filtration testing capabilities from testing of filter materials to the entire end product. With test flow ranges from low flow to ultra-high-flow products it provides a full range of one-stop solutions for filtration performance across a diversity of industries such as home appliances, automobiles, medicine, and aviation.
