SGS is proud to announce that our oil, gas and chemical (OGC) laboratory in Apapa, Nigeria has achieved ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation.
This heralds yet another exciting chapter for the laboratory, which was established in 1957 and has been continually expanding to meet the requests of our clients within the industry.
SGS’s Oil, Gas and Chemical Laboratory in Apapa
SGS’s OGC laboratory in Apapa offers a wide range of testing services for the OGC industry. It operates on a 24/7 basis and services the local and international marketplace by providing a reliable and rapid sample turnaround time. The laboratory currently comprises about 275 square meters and employs 18 full-time members of staff.
Through the use of modern equipment, the laboratory is able to offer a full range of critical testing services for crude oil and condensates, petroleum products and marine fuels. It boasts instrumentation such as ICP – ASTMD 7111, EN 16136, ASTMD 7691 & IP 501, gas chromatography ASTMD 4815 and HPLC – ASTMD 6591. It is also the only facility in Nigeria to offer research octane number (RON) by CFR Engine ASTM D2699 for gasoline testing.
Moving forward, the laboratory plans to continue expanding its testing capabilities – placing a particular emphasis on developing liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and motor octane number (MON) testing capabilities. In addition, there are plans to conduct crude oil assays in the future.

This official accreditation further enhances our laboratory's credibility and reliability in providing consistently accurate analysis results, leading to increased client confidence in the test results, reports, and certificates issued.
Certification demonstrates that all laboratory personnel, processes, and equipment meet the internationally renowned standards outlined in ISO/IEC 17025:2017. It also assures that all final reports are compliant with quality control.
The Apapa laboratory continues to practice to high standards, which ensures ongoing compliance with ISO requirements.
