China Updates Footwear Product Standard for Children’s leather sandals – QB/T 4546-2021

QB/T 4546-2021 <Children’s leather sandals> was released on December 2, 2021 and officially implemented on April 1, 2022.

On December 2, 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) issued Children’s leather sandals product standard QB/T 4546-2021, which became effective April 1, 2022. QB/T 4546-2021 replaces the previous edition, QB/T 4546-2013.

The new standard applies to the production, inspection and sale of children's and infants’ leather sandals for general use, where the uppers are mainly made of natural leather, artificial materials, or textile materials by various processes.

The new standard is not applicable to the infants’ sandals and children’s sandals with special functions.

Infants’ and children’s sandals with an upper strap (upper) made of other materials can refer to this standard.

  8. ‘Upper strap pull-out strength (or upper strap pull-out force)’ requirements, and ‘upper strap pull-out force’ test method
  9. ‘Shanks for footwear’ requirements
  10. Judgment rules
  11. Requirement of ‘packaging, transportation, storage’

Additions include:

  1. Requirements and test methods for ‘discoloration’
  2. Requirements and test methods for ‘outsole and midsole adhesive strength’
  3. Annex A of ‘after-sale quality judgment for children’s leather sandals’

Deletions include:

  1. Requirement and test method for ‘odor’ and ‘total thickness of upper strap’
  2. Requirement and test method for ‘limited substances’ and ‘physical safety performance’
  3. ‘Inspection classification’, ‘factory inspection’, ‘type inspection’, ‘inspection items’
  4. Annex A of ‘examples of classification of accessories’
  5. Annex B of ‘tensile strength test of small parts’
