China has issued a new product standard, FZ/T81024-2022 Woven Cape. This new standard became effective on October 1, 2022.

China Releases an updated Product Standard for Woven cape–FZ/T 81024-2022

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued a new industry standard for woven capes –FZ/T 81024-2022. Included in No. 10 announcement on the approved industry standards in 2022, it became effective on October 1, 2022.

Scope

This document is applicable to capes which are mainly made of woven fabrics. It is not applicable to woven capes intended for infants aged 36 months or younger.

Definition of a cape

A spacious sleeveless coat that wraps around the shoulders and arms.

Main physical and chemical contents

The requirements for physical and chemical contents shall comply with the rules of table 5 of FZ/T 81024-2022. Woven capes intended to be worn by children from than 3 to 14 years shall also comply with the rules of GB 31701.

This standard includes provisions relating to fiber content, formaldehyde content, pH value, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amines, odor, dimensional change (laundering, dry-cleaning), shell colorfastness (to laundering, dry-cleaning, water, perspiration, rubbing, light), lining colorfastness  (to laundering, dry-cleaning, water, perspiration, dry rubbing), trims and embroidery thread colorfastness (to laundering, dry-cleaning), pilling, and appearance after laundering and drying (laundering, dry-cleaning).
