China Updates Footwear Product Standard for Black Rain Boots (Shoes) – HG/T 2019-2022

HG/T 2019-2022 <black rain boots (shoes)> was released on September 30, 2022, and officially implemented on April 1, 2023.

On September 30, 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) issued black rain boots (shoes) product standard HG/T 2019-2022, which became effective on April 1, 2023. HG/T 2019-2022 replaces the previous edition, HG/T 2019-2011.

The new standard applies to black rain boots (shoes) made using the vulcanization process and injection molding process. It does not apply to industrial and mining boots and PPE boots (shoes).

Main Technical Changes

Revisions to HG/T 2019-2022 include:

  1. Scope
  2. Normative references
  3. Classification of ’black rain boots (shoes)
  4. ‘Shoe size’ requirement
  5. ‘Physical properties’ technical indicators into ‘vulcanized rubber’ and ‘injection molding materials’
  6. ‘Adhesive Strength’ to ‘adhesion strength of upper lining’ in ‘Physical properties of vulcanized rubber’
  7. ‘Outsole thickness’ requirement
  8. ‘Resistance of water penetration’ requirement and test method
  9. ‘Appearance quality’ requirement
  10. ‘Rubber film elongation’ test method

Additions include:

  1. 'Base thickness of outsole diagram'
  2. ‘Slip resistance of outsole’ and ‘adhesion strength of upper-sole’ requirement and test method in ‘Physical properties of vulcanized rubber’
  3. ‘Physical properties of injection molding materials’ test items, requirement and test method (including “slip resistance of outsole (wet)”)
  4. ‘Appearance quality’ test method

Deletions include:

  1. Annex A, the ‘Testing method for rubber film elongation’
