The EU has added one entry to its positive list of authorized substances for food contact plastics. The new law will become effective on August 31, 2023.
On August 11, 2023, the European Union (EU) issued Regulation (EU) 2023/1627 to add one substance to the Union List falling under Annex I to Regulation (EU) 10/2011 on food contact plastics (Food Contact Plastics Regulation, consolidated version to September 2020 and amendment 16 under Regulation (EU) 2023/1442, SafeGuardS 89/23).
Highlights of the latest amendment are summarized in Table 1:
