Develop High Quality Semiconductors with the SGS AEC-Q Series of Standards

September 07, 2023

We recently held the 2023 Semiconductor Technology Theme Forum in Shenzhen. Among the many important guests at the event were Chen Huijun, Secretary General of Shenzhen Automotive Electronics Industry Association (AEIA), and Xu Chuangge, senior manager of the SGS Semiconductor and Reliability Business Division. In total, nearly 100 enterprises were represented, with discussions covering recent developments affecting the semiconductor industry.

Our experts spoke on a variety of topics, including ‘Reliability Verification of Automotive-Grade Chip for Copper Wire Process Verification’, ‘Analysis and Case Sharing of Synthesis Failure of Integrated Circuits’, ‘Semiconductor Enterprise Information Security and Data Compliance Implementation Path’ and ‘Triple Integration of Safety Process Standards of ISO26262, ISO21448 and ISO21434’. They provided a third-party perspective on factors such as market access and research and development, drawing on their superior experience in semiconductor reliability, failure analysis, network security and functional safety.

We offer advanced testing and certification to the semiconductor industry though our laboratories in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Suzhou, Taiwan and South Korea. Additional support for the European semiconductor supply chain is provided through Forrester Research in Dresden, Germany.

In recent years, our capabilities have expanded with the introduction of German and Korean technical capabilities and test experience. Now a member of the Automotive Electronics Council's Technical Committee, we can also provide a range of AEC-Q testing services, including AEC-Q100 (integrated circuits), AEC-Q101 (discrete semiconductors), AEC-Q102 (optoelectronic semiconductors), AEC-Q103 (sensors), AEC-Q104 (multichip modules), AEC-Q200 (passive components), and comprehensive failure analysis and materials analysis to support the development and improvement of automotive semiconductors.

At the forum, we issued SGS AEC-Q100 certificates to several leading businesses. Representatives from these enterprises spoke of their desire to enhance cooperation with SGS to continuously improve product quality and promote benign development in the semiconductor industry.

We have been testing and certifying automotive electronic products as a member of AEC for many years, and have participated in the development of the AEC-Q100, Q101, Q102, Q103, Q104 and Q200 standards. Our laboratories can test all kinds of products to a wide variety of globally recognized standards – MIL/GJB/IEC/AEC/JEDEC/IPC. In addition, we are committed to providing customized testing solutions, technical support and training services to enterprises with special requirements and high-end products. Our solutions help businesses looking to streamline access to domestic and international markets.

Currently, our Shenzhen laboratory mainly provides AEC-Q100/101/102/200/104 reliability certification, PCB/PCBA reliability verification and failure analysis. The laboratory in Suzhou primarily conducts AEC-Q101 reliability certification and failure analysis for separation devices, and the semiconductor ultra trace analysis laboratory in Shanghai principally serves fabs and their suppliers.

By utilizing the latest state-of-the-art technology and our unrivalled industry expertise, we continue to support enterprises as they  respond to changes in market regulations and standards, paying close attention to market demand and technical challenges and providing quality solutions that promote sustainable development and enable a better, safer and more interconnected world.
