China Releases Updated Product Standard GB 24541-2022 – Hand Protection Against Mechanical Risks

China has issued an updated version of its national product standard GB 24541-2022 – Hand protection – Protective gloves against mechanical risks. The revised standard will become effective on January 1, 2024.

The Standardization Administration of China issued an updated version of the national product standard GB 24541-2022 – Hand protection - Protective gloves against mechanical risks, as part of China’s No. 19 announcement on approved national standards in 2022. The new version replaces the previous version, GB 24541-2009, and will come into effect on January 1, 2024.

Scope

This document is applicable to gloves used to protect against mechanical risks such as abrasion, blade cut, tear, puncture and, if applicable, impact.

Main technical contents

  1. Glove materials should first meet applicable requirements in GB 42298-2022, including provisions relating to pH values, chromium VI content, prohibited azo colorants, dimethylformamide (DMFa), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), glove size, dexterity, water vapor transmission, water vapor absorption, water penetration, marking and the information supplied by the manufacturer.
  2. Protective performance includes abrasion resistance, blade cut resistance (circular blade method), tear resistance, puncture resistance, TDM cut resistance and impact protection.
