China Consults Over Proposed Standards for Toys and Jewelry

China has informed the WTO of its intention to replace four standards for toy safety and one standard for jewelry.

In February 2024, the World Trade Organization (WTO) announced several draft mandatory standards for toys and jewelry from the Standardization Administration of China. These five draft standards aim to meet modern-day compliance requirements and are intended to replace their corresponding 2014/2012 national standards.

Highlights of these announcements are summarized in Table 1
