Switzerland has banned the manufacture and use of PFHxS, its salts and PFHxS-related compounds. This ban became effective in November 2023.
In Switzerland, persistent organic pollutants (POP) are regulated under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP Convention, RS/SR 0.814.03, version in French, German or Italian).
In March 2024, Switzerland issued RO 2024/113 (in French, German or Italian) to add perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), its salts and PFHxS-related compounds to the list of substances for elimination under Part I to Appendix A of the nation’s POP Convention.
