India has mandated the use of national standards and the standard mark for several categories of food contact product. These will become effective on June 6, 2024.
In March 2024, India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued two orders to regulate several categories of food contact product to specific Indian Standards and mandate the use of the standard mark.
Highlights of the two orders are summarized in Table 1.
