In order to operationalize the SALEEM project, SASO introduced the electronic platform called ‘SABER’, a one-stop-shop for the conformity requirements for the trade to be able to secure the certificates of conformity, which will allow them to clear their shipments at Saudi customs.

THE PROGRAM (SALEEM)

The Saudi Standards, Metrology & Quality Organization (SASO) is in the process of developing the “Saudi Product Safety Program” called SALEEM. The SALEEM program’s long- term goal is to ensure the Saudi consumers that the products being placed at the local market are compliant with Saudi Technical Regulations and standards, that is safe  and of quality.

THE OBJECTIVES

The SALEEM project aims to develop adequate, comprehensive technical regulations for the product conformity assessment program of the goods commercialized in the Saudi markets in adherence to international best practices in conformity assessment.

SALEEM is actually replacing the current conformity assessment program for products and introduces the new electronic platform called ‘SABER’, which will be the ‘single’ window entry for clients to request and secure an electronic Certificate of Conformity (e-CoC).

SABER SYSTEM

In order to operationalize the SALEEM project, SASO introduced the electronic platform called ‘SABER’, a one-stop-shop for the conformity requirements for the trade to be able to secure the certificates of conformity, which will allow them to clear their shipments at Saudi customs.

SABER can be accessible through https://saber.sa

In order for the trade to be able to file requests for certification of their products, entities are first required to build up their product information database within SABER, before these products can be initiated for certification as per SASO Technical Regulations and standards.
The necessary product information are required to enable the Saudi regulators, through the SABER platform, to monitor the products that will be commercially distributed in the Saudi local market.
