1982 • We begin operating in Mauritius, providing inspection and testing services for the textile sector
1990 • Launch of our environmental laboratory
1994 • Start of Hygiene Conscious Establishment (HCE) scheme audits
1995 • We begin providing certification services and food testing services
2003 • SGS Holding gains 100% ownership of SGS Mauritius.
2004 • Opening of our offices in Madagascar
2007 • Launch of GasyNet – a partnership between SGS and the government of Madagascar to support the modernization of Malagasy Customs
2009 • Introduction of Good Environmental Practices SchemeTM and Good Spa Practices SchemeTM, and start of Legionella testing
2010 • We begin operating in Reunion Island and launch our Legionella risk assessment
2014 • Addition of water safety, and building and housekeeping safety modules to our Hospitality Excellence program
2015 • Launch of SGS Academy in the Indian Ocean region
2016 • Official launch of our vehicle examination center in Mauritius, and industrial services in the Indian Ocean
2018 • Launch of petroleum laboratory management services in Madagascar
2021 • Relaunch of our hospitality program and launch of the Customized Assessment Tracking System (CATS) for audit data management and reporting
2024 • Launch of SGS’s Digital Trust services and extension of our laboratory calibration service capabilities
