SGS successfully wrapped up its "4 Lean Days" webinar series, held from 8 to 11 July 2024, and led by Andrea Chevallard, SGS Productivity Manager. The series attracted manufacturing professionals, business owners, managers, and quality professionals from across the Middle East, including countries like the UAE, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia.

Lean Day 1: Introduction to Lean Manufacturing and its Strategic Approach

The series kicked off with an introduction to Lean Manufacturing, focusing on the core principles and strategic benefits of implementing Lean within organizations. Andrea Chevallard guided attendees through the foundational concepts, including the SGS Productivity System (SPS), its core principles, structuring an effective productivity system, promoting Lean manufacturing operations, and explaining the Autonomous Process and Kaizen teams.

The second day delved into the human aspect of Lean Manufacturing. The session covered building a Human Productivity Organization (HPO) within a Lean framework, emphasizing strategies for employee engagement and empowerment.

Lean Day 3: Lean Manufacturing Tools - Labor & Machine Productivity

On the third day, the focus shifted to practical tools for boosting labor and machine productivity. Attendees explored how to structure a great productivity system and Lean manufacturing operations. The session included a Kaizen workshop and covered manpower productivity tools (HOSHIN: Workplace Productivity - Workload Balancing), process control (KAMISHIBAI), and machine productivity tools like Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), and Total Production Maintenance (TPM).

Lean Day 4: On-site Implementation of the Lean Manufacturing Model

The series concluded with a comprehensive guide to on-site implementation of the Lean Manufacturing model. Participants developed clear roadmaps for implementing Lean in their workplaces, explored best practices for overcoming common challenges, and introduced pilot projects with their objectives and key components. The session also provided insights into cost savings calculations, SGS's free project diagnosis, and the success factors for the diagnosis.
