China Releases New Product Standard for Knitted Quick-Dry Garments

China has issued a new product standard – FZ/T 73077-2024 – for knitted quick-dry garments. This new standard will become effective on January 1, 2025.

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued industry standard FZ/T 73077-2024 Knitted quick-dry garments, which was included in the No. 18 announcement of the approved industry standards in December 2024. This new industry standard will become effective on January 1, 2025.

Scope

This standard applies to quick-dry garments made mainly of knitted fabrics and is applicable to quick-dry accessories. It is not applicable to knitted quick-dry garments and accessories intended for infants who are not older than 36 months.

Definition for knitted quick-dry garments

Garment is mainly made of knitted fabrics, with absorption and quick-drying properties.

Safety requirements and internal quality

Safety requirements equate to the rules in GB 18401. Knitted quick-dry garments for children should also comply with the rules in GB 31701.

The requirements for internal quality of knitted quick-dry garments include compliance with the rules in table 1 of FZ/T 73077-2024. The test items for knitted quick-dry garments include fiber content, formaldehyde content, pH value, odor, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amines, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to rubbing, colorfastness to washing with soap or soap and soda, colorfastness to light, colorfastness to of textiles wetted with artificial perspiration (alkaline), colorfastness to transfer in joints, bursting strength, pilling, maximum force to seam rupture for back crotch seam, dimensional change after washing, spirality after washing, appearance after washing, and absorption and quick-drying properties.

The requirements for internal quality of knitted quick-dry accessories include compliance with the rules in table 2 of FZ/T 73077-2024. The test items for knitted quick-dry accessories include fiber content, formaldehyde content, pH value, odor, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amines, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to rubbing, colorfastness to washing with soap or soap and soda, and absorption and quick-drying properties.
