At SGS, we empower businesses operating in the Republic of Cameroon through engaging sessions on key customs procedures. In three recent seminars, attendees gained valuable insights and practical guidance to navigate the export process with confidence.
To facilitate trade and ensure compliance with Cameroonian customs regulations, we hosted a series of workshops in collaboration with the European Chamber of Trade, the Belgian Economic Mission and the National Shippers' Council of Cameroon (CNCC). These provided exporters, importers, customs clearance agents and investors with a clear understanding of the mandatory customs procedures required for trade with Cameroon.
Cameroonian authorities have implemented two key programs to regulate imports and ensure adherence to national and international trade standards:
- Import verification program (IVP): this program aims to determine the customs value of goods, ensure proper tariff classification and enhance transparency in import formalities
- Pre-shipment conformity assessment program (PECAE): designed to verify the quality of imported goods, PECAE ensures consumer health and safety, environmental protection and overall economic stability
The presentations focused on the regulatory and legal frameworks, operating procedures, official costs, certificates or deliverables issued, and the online tools we offer interested parties entering these two programs. In addition, clarification on issues of delay identified by participants was offered.
The seminars all ended on a note of general satisfaction on the part of the participants.
