SGS Quadruples PFAS Testing Capacity in North America

SGS announces that it is quadrupling its testing capacity of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) across North America. This will enhance throughput, secure faster turnaround times, offer more comprehensive investigations and ensure better targeted remediation analysis.

PFAS, commonly known as ‘forever chemicals’, are the source of escalating concerns regarding public health. They are extremely persistent compounds, with some types taking over 1,000 years to degrade.

SGS has been a pioneer of their detection since their harmfulness was first identified in Parkersburg, Virginia, in the early 2000s. The company notably developed the gold standard for PFAS testing, known as the EPA 1633 method, for the US Environment Protection Agency and the US Department of Defense.

Leveraging its enhanced testing capacity and its position at the forefront of innovation, SGS will meet the accelerating demand for PFAS testing and reaffirm its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and public health.
